“Concentric Rinds” is approximately 2 metres tall. Close inspection reveals four varying sized minutely indexed aluminium spheres nesting small to large, forming a mathematically precise and therefore perfect interrelated ripple effect vibration-like pattern. The effect of this precise indexing is greatly enhanced when viewed as the artwork rotates on its axis, powered by a multi speed motorized mechanism hidden within its base. In its monumental 9 metre installation, the immense power of Escher’s design will be harnessed.
